4 . How long does implementation of a DigitalShipper solution take?

Implementation varies based on the overall goals of each individual company. We work with companies of all sizes, from Fortune 500 companies down to much smaller operations where there are less than 50 employees, and the goals and requirements of each company can be and usually are vastly different. This causes implementation time to vary from one installation to the next. That said, in most situations we can fully implement a solution in about 4 to 6 weeks.

5. What is the typical cost of a DigitalShipper solution?

The solutions DigitalShipper provides vary in range according to the complexity of the project. What we focus on is the return on investment (ROI), our ability show true savings over a short period of time. Solutions DigitalShipper has implemented have ranged from as little as $15,000 to over $500,000, so the complexity of the solution does matter in terms of price; however the ROI is what makes our solution attractive. The return on investment for a DigitalShipper solution is typically three to six months.

6 . Does a company need to implement a new ERP or WMS system before implementing a DigitalShipper solution?

No, a company does not need to implement a new ERP or WMS system before implementing our solution. DigitalShipper solutions are extremely flexible and dynamic when connecting to a company’s host software application. Our solutions are so flexible, in fact, that when the software infrastructure inside our customer’s company changes, our solution can adapt to those changes with minimal implementation time.

7 . Can DigitalShipper ISM automate processes with a legacy system and an Enterprise system concurrently?

Yes. DigitalShipper solutions, due to their extreme flexibility, are able to integrate with both a legacy and an Enterprise system either independently or concurrently.

8 . How do DigitalShipper solutions work within enterprise environments?

DigitalShipper solutions are designed and developed with scalability in mind. When we talk about enterprise we are really talking about the ability to have many users accessing the system and its resources concurrently. Though often times there isn’t an overwhelming amount of users shipping packages concurrently, with today’s business climate there is a need for real-time information about the status of orders. We are also finding more corporations wanting the ability to ship overnight letters from their desktop. So today you have more and more people needing access to shipping information. That’s why our product is scaled to be an enterprise solution.

9 . Can a DigitalShipper solution replace a WMS or ERP system?

No. DigitalShipper ISM software is designed as a backend process to a WMS or ERP system. Often we are asked to incorporate pick & pack applications for package level detail requirements into our software and we have even adjusted inventory counts based on what was being shipped through or system. Even though the software allows us the flexibility to create these processes to solve a deficiency in a customer’s system, our solution is primarily based on shipping automation.

10 . Why should a company purchase a DigitalShipper solution when a carrier provided system is free?

Carriers do a good job of providing a solution when a company uses a single carrier and shipping volumes are relatively low. When a system is provided by the carrier, you ship your packages through that carrier, process your shipments their way, and follow their rules. As long as business requirements are simple then this type of solution may work for smaller companies. Free systems come at a high price for companies shipping with multiple carriers and/or have the need to exchange data with their WMS or ERP system. What attracts companies to DigitalShipper solutions is one system manages and processes all of a company’s different carrier requirements; it implements and follows your company’s business rules, shops for the best rate between all carriers, allows a single method for users to input data through a unified graphical user interface (GUI), and gives your company corporate-wide visibility on the status of a shipment. Carriers are limited in their ability to implement sophisticated enterprise solutions.
